I'm Shawn — a maker first, designer always. My work lives where craft meets circuitry: draw-filed metal edges, steam-bent wood, kinetic lamps, and parts that hum off a 3D printer at 2 a.m. 审美 — the sense of what is beautiful — is my second language; Mandarin is my first.

Rising junior in Industrial Design at RISD. TA experience in the studio, a product design internship in Manhattan, and a workshop habit that spans the metal shop, the wood shop, and a small farm of Bambu Lab printers in my room.

I model in Rhino, prototype fast, and finish slow — because the last 5% of an object is where the feeling lives.

I design custom AI skills and workflows. My practice spans research automation, AI-assisted coding, and AI product prototyping. I build in review checkpoints, evaluate the output, and keep creative direction and final decisions human-led.

TOOL-01

Metalworking

Draw filing, brazing, cold forming. Flat means flat — checked against the surface plate, not the eye.

TOOL-02

Rhino + CAD

Surface modeling, unrolled sheet-metal blueprints for laser cutting, and files a shop can actually build from.

TOOL-03

3D Printing

A three-printer Bambu Lab fleet (H2S · P1S · A1 mini). Tuned profiles, multi-material AMS, parts that fit first try.

TOOL-04

Electronics

ESP32, sensors, and light. Objects that respond — kinetic lamps and IoT prototypes that do more than sit there.

TOOL-05

Woodcraft

From xylophones to hammers. Grain-matched, hand-finished, and built to be held for a long time.

Documentation is part of the design. Studio-lit process shots and product films, shot and cut in-house.
